Constitution Day

The event features former Oklahoma Senator and Representative Angela Monson; Dr. Patricia Loughlin, Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of History and Geography at the University of Central Oklahoma; and Dr. Jeanette Mendez, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Professor of Political Science at OSU.

Constitution Day commemorates the signing of the Constitution on September 17, 1787. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, and in celebration, the focus of this year’s event will be women’s participation in politics and government, particularly through voting.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Farida Jalalzai, Hannah Atkins Endowed Chair, Professor and Head in the Department of Political Science at OSU. A question and answer with the audience will follow.

The Constitution Day program is free of charge and open to the public. This year’s program is made possible by sponsors the OSU Library, the Hannah Atkins Endowment and the OSU Political Science Department, as well as event partners Women’s Faculty Council, the League of Women Voters, the Oklahoma Commission on the Status of Women and the Stillwater Public Library.
