Carpentries - Introduction to OpenRefine and Regular Expressions (Zoom)

OpenRefine is a powerful free and open source tool for working with messy data, cleaning it and transforming it from one format into another.

Day 1 of this series will teach you to use OpenRefine to clean and format data effectively and automatically track any changes that you make. Many people comment that this tool saves them hours of work trying to make these edits by hand. Day 2 will introduce learners to regular expressions, which are used in a lot of programming and searching applications to enable sophisticated pattern matching by using a combination of symbols and characters to search through a longer piece of text.

Individuals interested in this workshop may also be interested in a session on Thursday, Oct. 24 on Open Access Datasets and Data Cleaning with OpenRefine - register for that workshop here!
